My week has been a week of pure Gamma love. What is Gamma love? Gamma love is loving your grandbabies unconditionally at any given time. This week I had my 11 month old Doodlebug Adalyn for 5 straight days (and nights) while she was SICK, SICK, SICK! Only a Gamma can appreciate how to love a child when they are fussy, snotty, coughing, eyes infected, and running four straight days of fever. All of this on top of running a fever above 100 for 2 straight days. Yes, we went to see the pediatrician on the 3rd morning. By the time I took her home yesterday, she was well, happy, playing, and wanted nothing more than to hug on her “Bubba” (code name for her big brother, my 5-year-old grandson Jackson) and to kiss her mommy and daddy non-stop. It was a very sweet thing to see, yet made me sad at the same time after the closeness we had over the last few days.
Anyway, because of her being sick, I sort of neglected taking care of myself and ended up in the ER yesterday with a blood clot in my arm that had progressed into thrombophlebitis. That sucker was the size of a walnut! What really ticked me off was that it was in my right arm, and as I am right-handed, I couldn’t do much with it this week as far as beading or crochet.
BUT, I’m not going to leave you hanging, in fact, I’m going to bring you something I released last year, not only for sale on my website as finished earrings, but I also have the pattern available so that you too, can make them. They are my Starfish earrings made with turquoise Picasso superduos and size 8/0 seed beads. It’s a really simple pattern to follow, and a lot of fun to make. You can purchase the ready made earrings at my Storenvy store, or the pattern to make them yourself.
I loved making these. They were quick to work up, and didn’t require a lot of thought process behind it (not that I have a lot of them!). They are perfect to wear to the beach or with summer wear in a night out with friends. If you would like the pattern please visit my Storenvy page or you can shop directly from my Facebook page.
In crochet news: I have finished the sunhat for Adalyn to wear in her 1st birthday pics and currently working on her dress, but still have a ruffled diaper cover to go with the sunhat. I would have posted a picture of her wearing the sunhat, but you don’t want to see a sickly baby as a model! I will post it, along with the entire layette that I am making for her birthday pictures in a future blog.
As always, please leave me a comment with any questions about these earrings or previous posts, or just to let me know what you think about my blog! Please be kind or sarcastic!
Until next time, stay smart or stay smart sassy!
