Season’s Greetings Everyone! Down to the wire now. Christmas this weekend, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Boxing Day next week and Festivus too! I know, I know, I have been completely MIA for the last month. I REALLY apologize to everyone, but between some major health issues and some family things, I just have not had time to sit down and write a purposeful blog to you all, and to be honest, when I had the whole hole-in-my-arm-that-gave-me-MRSA thing going on, I got seriously behind on my beading, so I have been trying to play catch-up ever since. I even managed to squeeze in a couple of craft shows in Mobile, Alabama with my Sis during my hiatus from you!
I promise you, the next time you hear from me, it will be slam full of what I have been working on (including with the new AVA beads!) to wrap up 2016! After that, I thought about doing my own thread review to kind of follow-up on Marcia Balonis “All About the Thread” blog from back in June. I was skeptical at first, but not anymore! Would you all like for me to do a thread review? Let me know in the comment section below!
Anywho, you all have a helpful hints WONDERFUL & BLESSED week or so, and remember not to drink and drive or get in a vehicle with anyone who has been, or better yet, take THEIR keys and call someone to come get all of you! I really have missed reaching out to you all on a regular basis, but will be back on track after the holidays.
Thanksgiving has come and gone, and along with it, Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. I sincerely hope you all shopped the Small Business Saturday sales. Without small businesses like mine, we would live in a large corporate jungle led by the likes of Walmart and other big box retailers. Oh, wait! We already do! Seriously though, I make my living from my business, as do the majority of Americans. That’s right, 99% of businesses in America are considered to be small businesses, defined as having less than 500 employees. Of that number, buy brand name propecia online 79% are home based businesses like mine. So every time you shop at a big box store, you are taking income away from 79% of American workers. In short: support your local small businesses and buy handmade when you are trying to decide what to buy for Grandma or Aunt Ethel or whoever!
So you all know how I love to play around with super duos. This week I had some metallic forest green super duos I had picked up at a trunk show last year that were just screaming at me to make something resembling a Christmas tree. So I started out with my brand new spool of green (yes, green!) Wildfire thread that Artbeads has on sale for just $7.19 for a 50 yard spool. It matched my super duos perfectly, because you all know how I just hate thread that shows too much on my work! Plus, it is a nice neutral, almost camo colored green, that can be used with a lot of other neutral colored beading projects where white or black thread just shows too much.
I then proceeded to make a circle of 6 super duos with a lava red o-bead in between each, that I found over at Eureka Crystal Beads. They sell them in 5 gram bags for $3.30. I then added two more circles stacked upon each other by adding five more super duos each circle. I then weaved my thread to one of the outer left super duos and added another five super duos and o-beads as a branch and then weaved my thread across and did the same thing on the opposite side. Then I weaved my way up to the top and added three silver super duos on either side of the top most super duo. I then weaved my thread down to the bottom most super duo and weaved in a dark bronze metallic rulla on either side of it with two 11/0 seed beads between the bottom holes of the rullas for added support. A jump ring was too thick to go through the hole of the super duo, I used some round nose pliers and made a jump ring with a thin head pin.
