Sarcasm Has Another Contest!

I have really missed connecting with all of you. There, I said it. However I have had some issues with my health and a death in my immediate family, in addition to losing two Facebook friends. So, this week I am dedicating my blog to Larry Linson, Sr., a wonderful beader, gifted computer programmer, and an amazing friend to me. Many of you know him from the beading groups. I knew him on Facebook, and then he became a “silent” sponsor of this blog and we had many long telephone conversations about politics, family, life in general, where he never failed at sharing his wisdom with me. I miss him very much. So, I promised you last time I would show you what all I have been working on since the last time I posted anything. Well, there are so many of them, I am just going to post the pictures, and … Read more

Sarcasm has a YouTube Tutorial!

Hey everyone, SO sorry to be running late this week, but well, I was in the hospital with this crater thing on my arm, and what was thought to be a spider bite turned out to be a nasty infection that was REALLY resistant to the antibiotics – even the IV ones! Anywho, y’all remember my “Penny Pincher” bracelet? You know, the one that was one of the winners of the Potomac Bead Company 2016 Design Challenge? You know, THIS one! Well, a lot of you have been asking for a tutorial for it, and though I haven’t finished the written one yet, Potomac Bead Company has posted a VIDEO tutorial of it by Allie Buchman, which can be found HERE. I absolutely ADORE the colors she chose, and though I used a one needle approach in making mine, she simplified it (yes it DOES simplify it!) by using a two needle approach. … Read more

Sarcasm Has Another Winner!

Happy Independence Day America! For those of you celebrating, PLEASE be courteous around pets, and especially near any former combat veterans when it comes to fireworks! It is a traumatic thing resembling gunfire to both of them, and you do not want to be the cause of a PTSD incident! As far as my beading goes this week, I submitted a third entry in the Dry Gulch Color Design Challenge for June (it, nor any of my other entries, won) and also played with my new peanut beads! I have had peanut beads for a while, but these are really cool, because they are 3x6mm! I don’t really have a name for this. I was just experimenting with the larger peanut beads and some right angle weave and this is what I came up with. The peanut beads are seafoam green, and I used 8/0 blue metallic iris and 11/0 galvanized copper to … Read more

Sarcasm Issues a Challenge (With a Prize!)

Oh.My.Freaking.Heavens.it.is.HOT!!! Living in Alabama in the summer is ridiculous! I mean, it’s only June, and we have already had near 100 degree temps. i am SO dreading August!!! It’s enough to melt my beads! The only thing the heat isn’t melting? The bugs! O.M.G. they are almost as big as my car!  All the more reason to run back inside in the A/C and back to my beads! For those of you who are regular readers, you know I like to participate in the monthly Dry Gulch Color Design Challenge. It is held using a different color palette over on Facebook each month. The only requirement is that you use all the colors in the assigned color palette. That’s it. Your entry can be anything from jewelry to curtains to cupcakes, as long as it follows the assigned color palette. You can also enter as many times as you want. For June, … Read more

Sarcasm is Rolling with Rivolis – a short tutorial!

It’s that time of year again. You know – the one where the weather is so unpredictable you don’t know whether to wear short sleeves with your boots and shorts, or long sleeves and pants with your flip-flops. Oh, wait – that’s only in Walmart…ha! Really though, the kids are getting out of school and/or graduating and parents everywhere are hiding the breakables and taking out second mortgages to pay for summer childcare. My daughter is lucky though, She has me to watch my grandson all summer while he is out of school, even though my Doodlebug will continue on with her daycare. She is such an intelligent and bright little girl for her age (21 months) that she definitely needs to carry on with the preschool thing. My Little Man is graduating from Kindergarten tomorrow, followed by a school sponsored field trip to the zoo for all the graduates and their parents … Read more

Sarcasm does a Beaded Bezel Tutorial

Welcome back to another fun-filled week of snark, honorable mentions from the Challenge, some of my beadwork (yes, I have found some time to bead, despite everything that has been going on!), and a tutorial! This is going to be a long one, boys and girls, so grab on to your nearest glass of wine (or whatever else lifts your spirits) and hang on! First, let me apologize about the tone of last week’s posting. I know it was down and depressing, and I apologize. Sometimes though, you just need an outlet for your emotions, and since my family was center stage in the cause of mine, it fell to writing about it here. Not fair to you. No more, I promise. Believe it or not, I not only have been beading, but actually won a little something in a challenge myself. Bello Modo held their Crescent Design Challenge, where original submissions had to be … Read more

Sarcasm Shows Beautiful Work

Happy Easter! I hope everyone has had a pleasant day. I have spent it with my husband and our granddaughter watching her play with all her books and assorted goodies the Easter Bunny brought her overnight to our house. It was so cute this morning after she ate breakfast watching her march around the living room looking for her “prizes.” That’s what we had to tell her so she would go off and look! She is a very precarious little 19 month old, and smart as a whip! To convince her to do something she isn’t sure of though is quite a feat! I apologize for the lateness of the hour of posting this week, but as you can see, my blog undertook a makeover today! Then, just as I was getting ready to sit down and post to you all, a succession of transformers in my neighborhood blew up, … Read more
